Daryl Powell was left with nothing but disappointment after seeing his Castleford Tigers side thrashed 24-6 by the Leeds Rhinos in the Super League Grand Final.

Cas had gone into the Old Trafford showpiece as favourites to be crowned champions, having claimed the League Leaders' Shield by finishing ten points clear of the field at the end of the Super 8s.

I'm disappointed that we didn't do ourselves justice.

However, a host of errors in wet conditions in Manchester put paid to their chances, with only a late Alex Foster try ensuring that they avoided becoming the first side to fail to score in a Grand Final.

And Powell was a downcast figure after the final whistle, admitting: "I'm massively disappointed that we couldn't build any pressure on Leeds at all.

"I'm disappointed that we didn't do ourselves justice. If we'd been able to do that and got beat, you hold your hands up and say 'fair enough'.

"We saved our very worst until last. We just created too many errors and credit to Leeds, they deserved to win.

"You have to wait a long time before we can straighten it up, but it is what it is. We've come to a big occasion and we made 18 errors and you can't win a Grand Final playing like that."

The Tigers are 1213.00 to lift the Challenge Cup in 2018, with the Rhinos priced at 8.00 and two-time defending champions Hull FC available at 17.00.
