Competition won't faze Manfredi

Wigan Warriors centre Dom Manfredi insists he is relishing the competition for places in the three-quarter line, as the team prepares to challenge for success in the Super League and Challenge Cup.

The Warriors reached the Challenge Cup Final with victory over Salford Red Devils, and Manfredi says the players have not given up hope of finishing in the top four and qualifying for the Super League Grand Final play-offs.

I definitely think we are still in with a shot of reaching the play-off semi-finals.

But the centre admits that tying down a place in the team hoping to mount a challenge for trophies is by no means a given.

"We'll have to see how it goes. The lads that are in the team at the moment are playing very well, but I like a bit of competition. I think it helps us all as it gets the best out of us and keeps us on our heels so we'll have to see," said Manfredi.

"We've all got different types of strengths and weaknesses, but whoever's playing best will play, that's how it's always been. I'm just looking forward to getting out there and playing again. It's felt like a lifetime."

Wigan opened their Super 8s campaign with a defeat away at Leeds Rhinos.

The Warriors can't afford to drop many more points in the league and they'll be aiming to bounce back when they face Huddersfield Giants on Friday night.

"I definitely think we are still in with a shot of reaching the play-off semi-finals," said Manfredi.

"We're still confident as ever and we're going to go into every game with a must-win attitude. We still have an awful lot to play for this season."

The Warriors are 1.72 to win the Challenge Cup final and are 501.00 to triumph in the Super League Grand Final.
