Hull FC forward Gareth Ellis says the team is focused on maintaining their form during the closing weeks of the season, after collecting the Challenge Cup on Saturday.

Hull secured back to back Cup Final wins with victory over Wigan Warriors, and now have their sights set on securing a top four finish in Super League.

It bodes well. For us as a club it means we are moving forward and heading in the right direction. But it is difficult and we are under no illusions.

The top four play off against one another for a place in the Grand Final at Old Trafford, and Ellis is confident that the Black and Whites can be in the mix, after having fell away this time last year.

"We are striving to be consistent. I still don't think we have hit the consistency we did last year, but we have found a way to perform in the big games. We have tasted the success of last year and how good it felt, we have got a taste for it," said Ellis, who has announced that he will retire from playing at the end of the season.

Hull return to Super League action on Thursday, when they travel to face Leeds Rhinos.

"It bodes well. For us as a club it means we are moving forward and heading in the right direction. But it is difficult and we are under no illusions. We know what Thursday is going to be, but this time around we will be better.

"We will be better prepared. We haven't been great all year, but we've been great when we needed to be," Ellis added.

"If we can get in the top four - whether we are at home or away - we will be great for our prospects."

Hull FC, who are 7/2 to win the Super League Grand Final, are 11/4 to defeat Leeds, while the Rhinos are priced at 2/7.
