Holbrook relishes Saints start
St Helens head coach Justin Holbrook is keen to see his side build on a superb start to the new Super League season.
Saints crushed Castleford Tigers 44-6 on Friday evening, leaving last season's Grand Finalists somewhat stunned at being swept away at Langtree Park.
However, Holbrook was left to reflect on a highly-polished performance from his side, who are much fancied to be among the Grand Final hopefuls this season.
He told reporters: "The boys were fantastic and we got off to a great start.
"Everyone will get better as the year moves on and I'm sure Castleford will be disappointed, but from our end we couldn’t have asked for any more.
"We didn't expect to win with that scoreline of course. You're always confident with your pre-season, but when round one comes you know you have to perform - and we did."
Saints are 1.90 to win the Grand Final this season, with Wigan Warriors 5.00 and Cas 6.00.
Meanwhile, Tigers head coach Daryl Powell admitted that his side had put on a dismal display against the Saints.
He added: "We were shocking. St Helens were excellent and they put us under a lot of pressure, but I didn't expect such a poor attitude from us.
"It was a rude awakening, a really poor performance. That's not our standards and not what we've come to expect - it's a smack in the chops.
"It wasn't far off the worst performance I've seen during my time at the club."
