Holbrook targets derby boost
St Helens head coach Justin Holbrook believes Friday's derby clash against Wigan Warriors represents the perfect opportunity for his side to revive their push for a top-four place.
Saints have been narrowly beaten in their last two Super League fixtures, which means they sit a point outside the top four with four games of the Super Eights remaining.
A win over Wigan at Langtree Park would put them in an excellent position to achieve their goal, and Holbrook is confident that his side can turn their fortunes around.
"The derby game is big and one we have been looking forward to. We got a good result last time and we'll need that again after the defeat against Leeds and given where we are in the table," said Holbrook.
"We're still a point outside the top four, and an ounce of luck would be nice but you also have to make your own. Leeds managed to do that against us and they took their chances, and that is what we have to do.
"We had 33 per cent possession in the second half against Leeds and still got to within two points of beating a very dangerous side, who came off the back of a defeat the previous week. We can build on that heading into the game against Wigan."
Huddersfield Giants face Castleford Tigers and Salford Red Devils take on Wakefield Trinity in Friday's other fixtures.
St Helens are 1/2 to beat Wigan while Huddersfield are 15/8 to triumph against Castleford.
