Jowitt eager for more action
Wakefield Trinity's Max Jowitt is hopeful that his utility value can earn him more first-team opportunities in 2018.
Following a disrupted start to last year, Jowitt was unable to secure a regular spot in the Wakefield 17. But the youngster, who has so far earned most of his opportunities at full-back, is confident that this year can be a more positive one.
"The more positions I can play, the better it'll be for me. I think I'll have a closer look at that in training now, because I don't just want to stick to one position. I want to be able to adapt in other positions like wing, centre and half-back," said Jowitt.
"My first aim for this year was to get a strong pre-season under my belt. It was accepted I needed to get some size on me and get moving again, because I missed last pre-season and that knocked me back a bit."
Jowitt also revealed that he'd be open to a spell with another club if it means gaining more experience at a senior level.
"It was frustrating knowing the games weren't coming last year, but it's down to me," he added. "If I'm not playing at Wakefield, then I need to be playing somewhere else. It's down to me to make sure I'm playing as much as I can. I really want to kick on this year."
Wakefield, 1213.00 to win the Challenge Cup this year and 81.00 to be the Super League XXIII Grand Final winners, enjoyed a successful season in 2017 after being tipped to struggle ahead of the season.
They kick off their new campaign with a home match against Huddersfield Giants on Thursday 1st February.
