McGuire targets perfect send-off
Leeds Rhinos half-back Danny McGuire is focused on ending his career with the club in the best possible way, ahead of the Grand Final showdown with Castleford Tigers.
The game at Old Trafford marks Danny McGuire's last appearance for Leeds, before he makes the switch to join Hull KR in 2018.
The seven-time Grand Final winner kept his Leeds career alive with a dramatic win over Hull FC last weekend, and tonight provides an opportunity for the perfect send-off.
I remember thinking in the last Final that whatever I've got, I want to tip it out there because I want those boys to feel brilliant after this game,Danny McGuire
"If that would have been our last game and we'd have lost the semi then I think it would have been more emotional. But because my next thoughts were playing this week that wasn't the case, and I hope I can go out on a high today," said McGuire, who bows out alongside team-mate Rob Burrow.
"It was really special and an overwhelming night - I'm lucky to be at a club that puts so much into the players. It's something I'll probably look back on in a month's time and break down crying at how much it meant."
McGuire's last Grand Final appearance came in 2015, when the Rhinos completed the treble, following a Challenge Cup Final win and the League Leaders Shield.
"I remember thinking in the last Final that whatever I've got, I want to tip it out there because I want those boys to feel brilliant after this game," he said.
"I know Rob will be giving it his all too. We want to finish in the best way possible."
Leeds Rhinos are 6/4 to win the Grand Final, while Castleford are priced at 8/15.
