Parcell targets second spot

Leeds hooker Matt Parcell says the players are confident they can continue their winning start to the Super 8s, and maintain their advantage over Hull FC.

The Rhinos are three points clear of Hull in second place. If positions remain as they are then Leeds would face the Airlie Birds at Headingley in a play-off semi-final.

But Parcell admits that Hull are in good form, and knows that the Rhinos can't afford to slip up if they are to retain their home advantage.

Leeds return to action with a trip to face Wakefield Trinity on Thursday night, while Hull head to St Helens on Friday. The Rhinos are 2/5 to beat the Wildcats while Hull are 9/4 to triumph against Saints.

"We are getting to the business end now. We're second and we've just got to hold on to that. Most of the games will be massive now, but we've just got to maintain that gap we've got over Hull. They are playing well, so we've got to keep winning games," said Parcell, who was pleased with the team's performance in their win over Wigan Warriors last week.

"It was good to get back to how we play best, a bit free-flowing and reactive and playing off the back of each other. We've just got to continue that I guess. You have only got to be a little bit off and you will lose a lot of games."

Parcell admits that Wakefield will be desperate for the points when the two sides meet at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium on Thursday, after Trinity were soundly beaten by Huddersfield Giants in round one.

"It was a tough game the last time we played them and they will have been disappointed with their result last weekend," he added.

"They need to win this game to maintain a push for the top-four, so it is a massive game for both teams."

Leeds are 4/1 to win the Grand Final while Hull can be backed at 11/4.
