Pauli poised for new challenge
New Wakefield Trinity signing Pauli Pauli says he was pleased to get his first appearance for the club under his belt in the narrow Boxing Day defeat to Leeds Rhinos.
And the former Newcastle Knights player says he is eager to make a big impression in the Super League during the months ahead.
Pauli was among a number of new signings to feature in the game and, despite the defeat to Leeds, he says there are good things to come from the new look Wakefield side, 17.00 to win the Challenge Cup in 2018.
"It was good to get the cobwebs out of the way and to see the boys play and try to get the mistakes out of the way at the same time. The boys did good. Most of us are still new so we are still trying to learn how we play and how we move together," said Pauli.
"Hopefully, the next two or three weeks are going to be better, and hopefully I can get used to the weather. I've not played in the cold like that before, but it is going to be a good time for me here - I am going to enjoy it.
"It is a lot different to Australia - it's a lot warmer in Australia, but I like this weather. It makes me sleep better, so it's all good, and hopefully I'll be able to give something back to the fans. They've already given me some great support."
Wakefield enjoyed a positive season in 2017 but missed out on a place in the top four.
They play their first game of the 2018 Super League season when they travel to face Hull KR, 51.00 to win the Challenge Cup, on Friday 2nd February.
