Powell dreams of Tigers glory
Head coach Daryl Powell has backed his Castleford Tigers team to complete a dream season by winning the Super League Grand Final.
The Tigers have dominated the league season to date, finishing a full ten points clear of the rest of the field at the end of the Super 8s stage of the competition.
I think we've created a vision of achieving something special and we're on the cusp of it.Daryl Powell
They were then pushed to the limit by St Helens in the play-off semi-finals, setting up an Old Trafford showdown with the Leeds Rhinos, who have won the Grand Final six times in the last ten years.
And Powell believes his players are ready to grasp an opportunity which slipped through their hands when they were beaten 23-10 by the Rhinos in the 2014 Challenge Cup final.
He told reporters: "If we've got cool heads on Saturday night, I think we will be in a fantastic place.
"For me, the consistency across the year is unbelievably important, but this is a one-off game where it's about nerve as much as anything and getting your game right on one night. There's no second chances.
"You talk about dreams and blokes don't often go for that stuff, but I think it's important. I think we've created a vision of achieving something special and we're on the cusp of it.
"We went to a Challenge Cup final in 2014 and didn't get the job done, but I think this team is a fair bit more mature than that one."
Castleford, who will be without Zak Hardaker, are 8/15 to win the Grand Final, with the Tigers 4/6 to score first and 6/5 to open the scoring with a try.
