Tautai hails Warriors' response
Wigan forward Taulima Tautai has hailed the team's response following their Challenge Cup Final defeat, after the Warriors breathed life in to their top-four challenge with victory at St Helens on Friday.
Wigan sit fifth in the table, a point outside the top four, and can be backed at 500/1 to win the Grand Final. They travel to face Hull FC on Friday, in a repeat of last month's Final.
"We'll be coming up against the Challenge Cup winners next week and we are expecting a very big game because they will want to get into the semi-finals. We will be doing a lot of homework on them," said Tautai, who is confident that the Warriors can break into the top four, which would put them one game away from Old Trafford.
"Coming into the Super 8s in seventh place was quite a tough run for us but we have done pretty good so far. If we can beat them then we could go into the top four but we have to take it week by week."
Wigan were Super League Grand Final winners in 2016, and knew that anything other than a win over St Helens last week could see their grip on the trophy loosen.
"We knew we had to dig deep. Everyone was hurting but we said that the team has got to move forward," added Tautai.
"We spent the Sunday feeling down about it but we came straight back into training on Monday and did the review and that really helped us against Saints."
