Vikings fired up for relegation fight
Widnes youngster Danny Walker says the mood in the dressing room is as good as it has ever been, as the team aims to stave off the threat of relegation.
The Vikings secured an important win at survival rivals Leigh Centurions at the weekend, to provide a boost to their own chances of beating the drop.
Widnes are now third in the table, ahead of Saturday's trip to face Hull KR.
"Everyone is buzzing, and we're going to take a lot of confidence from that result going into Hull KR this week. We need to get that game done and dusted too, and then start pushing on and enjoying our rugby like we are at the minute," said Walker, who has enjoyed a break-out year in the Vikings first team.
"It was a really good performance from everyone on the field. We had a couple of injuries happen midway through the game and I thought that we responded to it brilliantly. It's a credit to what we've been doing in training through the week."
Walker was also quick to pay credit to the Vikings supporters, who he says have played a key role during the Super 8s campaign so far.
"The fans have really helped us and pushed us through," he added. "You can't even hear the man next to you at times but the fans are doing us proud. They are a credit to the club, so we have to our own job for them."
Meanwhile, Castleford are 1.53 to win the Super League Grand Final and Leeds can be backed at 2.50.
