McManus wins nail-biting clash
Alan McManus won a thrilling match at the Shanghai Masters, hitting back from 4-3 down to beat Dominic Dale 5-4.
Elsewhere, Luca Brecel thrashed Matthew Stevens 5-0 while world champion Mark Selby was forced to win a tense deciding frame against Chris Wakelin as he edged home 5-4.
John Higgins triumphed against Ian Preece 5-1 and Judd Trump thrashed Alfie Burden 5-0.
Joe Perry had little trouble against Matthew Selt, eventually clinching a 5-1 victory, and Stephen Maguire came from 4-1 down to beat Rory McLeod 5-4.
Brecel is 4/9 to beat Jamie Jones in Shanghai while Higgins is 3/10 to come out on top against Zhou Yuelong.
Meanwhile, Mark King is looking forward to defending his Northern Ireland Open title in Belfast next week.
King won the first title of his career 12 months ago when he won a thrilling final against Barry Hawkins 9-8.
The 43-year-old said: "Going back to Belfast is going to be great and it will bring back all the memories of last year and the trophy.
"It is going to be weird coming into the event as reigning champion and something that I never thought I would do.
"I'm just excited. There are so many tournaments nowadays, every event you want to go there and win, so I'm excited to go over there and give it a go."
