Trump targets first Masters
Judd Trump was relieved to come through a tough encounter against Liang Wenbo and reach the quarter-finals of the Masters.
Trump eventually won the match 6-4 and the world number three will now play either Shaun Murphy or Ali Carter in a last-eight encounter on Friday afternoon.
Trump has never reached the final of the tournament before even though this is his eighth Masters.
Breaks of 83, 72 and 58 helped him build up a 5-1 lead but Liang then won three frames in a row, including superb breaks of 139 and 116.
However, Trump held his nerve to win the 10th frame thanks to a fine 85 break of his own.
"I thought Liang was negative early in the match, he was over-thinking everything," the man from Bristol said afterwards.
"After that he relaxed more and started playing well. He put me under a bit of pressure so I was pleased to take my chance to win 6-4. Every win in this event is a good result."
Trump is 1212/1 to win the Masters outright, while Ronnie O'Sullivan can be backed at 1212/1, John Higgins at 6/4 and Murphy at 1212/1.
