The Los Angeles Lakers picked up their ninth victory away from home this season on Sunday with a 108-104 triumph over the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
Brook Lopez led the way for the visitors with 20 points as all five starters were in double figures in a solid all around performance. Jordan Clarkson came off the bench to add a further 18 points as the Lakers made it three wins in five starts on their latest road trip having also got the better of the Chicago Bulls and the Brooklyn Nets.
LA sit 11th in the Western Conference, 6.5 games out of a postseason place with a 21-31 record. Even with Lonzo Ball out, the Lakers have been steadily improving and it will curious to see how many moves LA make at the trade deadline and who they consider part of the core group moving forward.
On Tuesday the Lakers will welcome in the Phoenix Suns to the Staples Center in downtown LA before the Thunder are the visitors later in the week.
Oklahoma City are fifth in the Conference behind the Golden State Warriors, 1.52 to win the NBA Championship outright, Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Losers of four in a row, the Thunder find the Portland Trail Blazers, New Orleans Pelicans and Denver Nuggets all within a game-and-a-half. Oklahoma City are in Oakland on Tuesday evening to face the Golden State Warriors before heading down the California coast to play in LA to conclude their brief two-game trip.
