Two hyped games on Saturday
The college basketball season is into the meat of its schedule this weekend as Conference play starts for numerous clubs around the country.
There are plenty of interesting match ups but a couple stand out as the surprising Arizona State Sun Devils travel to Tucson to play the Arizona Wildcats while TCU and Oklahoma clash in Fort Worth.
In many ways Arizona State has been the story of the first couple of months of the season as the Sun Devils have remained unbeaten and run their record to 12-0.
That head coach Bobby Hurley was starting to build a strong foundation in Tempe was understood by those with more than a passing interest in the Pac-12, but even nuanced observers have been surprised at a non-conference winning streak that included victories over Kansas State, Xavier and Kansas, the latter when they were ranked No.2 in the nation by the Associated Press.
Arizona State's reward has been an elevation to third in the AP Top 25 behind Villanova and Michigan State.
Meanwhile Arizona is a much better team than their No.17 ranking would indicate, but a three-game losing streak earlier in the season saw the Wildcats plummet out of the rankings.
Seven straight wins, including an upset of Texas A & M, has Arizona pointed in the right direction, but this is a Top 10 battle on the Wildcats' home court, even if the official ranking says otherwise.
Meanwhile the Oklahoma Sooners have unearthed the most exciting freshman in the country in Trae Young who leads the country in both scoring and assists.
TCU has moved up to 10th, but mainly because others teams have lost and with no real quality wins.
The Sooners crash the Top 10 with a victory while the Horned Frogs confirm they belong if they are triumphant.
Alabama are 2.80 to win the NCAAF Championship. Clemson are 3.25, with Oklahoma 4.50 and University of Georgia 5.00.
