Sharks welcome in the Kings
The San Jose Sharks and the LA Kings renew their rivalry on Saturday evening when the Pacific Division leaders travel to the Shark Tank.
The Kings have won two in a row and lead the Vegas Golden Knights by two points in the Division with the Sharks in third place, eight points adrift on LA in the standings.
It's the third of four games scheduled between the Kings and the Sharks with honors currently split at a game apiece with each team winning on their opponents ice.
LA will hope that is prescient as they push to enter the break in sole possession of first place in the Division ahead of the Golden Knights.
For Vegas, 2.35 to win the Western Conference, the first three months of existence have been a dream that no one could have imagined.
The Golden Knights made smart choices in the expansion draft and leveraged the process to make some good deals but still this was expected to be a struggle with most of the established veterans then dealt at the trade deadline to help in the overall building of the franchise.
Instead Vegas got off to a good start and has never stopped to become a legitimate contender in the Pacific Division and the Western Conference.
Tuesday's 4-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning underlined how well the Golden Knights have been playing and Vegas will carry a three-game winning streak into their match up with the Washington Capitals on Saturday.
Wednesday the Knights are in Anaheim to take on the Ducks before facing the Kings at the Staples Center on Thursday.
The Sharks are 1.90 to win on Saturday, with LA 1.90 to come out on top.
