I'm at Glory to win honours says Golec

Anthony Golec has joined Perth Glory for next season.

Antony Golec is hungry for more silverware with Perth Glory after moving from Western Sydney Wanderers.

The 25-year-old defender was let go by Wanderers at the end of last season, as coach Tony Popovic opted for a radical overhaul of his squad.

Just six months after the career high of winning the Asian Champions League with the club - he played in every minute of both legs of the final victory over Al-Hilal - Golec was left searching for a new contract.

Perth stepped in and offered the Australia U-23 international a deal, and Golec feels confident his new club, who are 15.00 to win the Grand Final, can challenge for honours next season.

There's a lot of new faces here, so it looks like it's going to be a good year.

Glory themselves have had a revolving door since the end of the campaign, Jamie Maclaren's departure this week for Brisbane Roar making him the eighth player to depart.

Kenny Lowe enjoyed success in his first full campaign in charge, though, and Golec says he arrives looking to win the championship with Perth.

"Whether people believe it outside of this club - that's their problem," he added. "But for me my goal is to win something with this club. That's what I want to do.

"There's a lot of new faces here, so it looks like it's going to be a good year. Hopefully one to remember."

The Glory are Golec's fourth A-League club - he started out with Sydney FC before spending three seasons with Adelaide United and then moving on to Western Sydney early last year.

He has been joined at Perth by his former Wanderers teammate Ante Covic, who completed his move on Wednesday.

Perth are 6.50 to win their first match of the season against Central Coast, who are 7.00 with the draw 12.00.
