Pep Guardiola will have been delighted with City's showing

Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden believes his side had "the game of their lives" in their 2-0 derby win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.

In their next Premier League contest later this month, City are 1/5 to beat Everton, who are 14/1 to win, with the draw 11/2.

In the first Manchester derby of the campaign, City took only seven minutes to break the deadlock when Joao Cancelo's cross was bundled into his own net by United centre-back Eric Bailly.

Everything went right.

Cancelo continued to be a nuisance for United, drawing a couple of top saves from goalkeeper David De Gea, but the Spanish shot-stopper could not keep out Bernardo Silva's poked effort after 45 minutes.

Cruise control

The Portuguese's strike put City 2-0 up and they were in cruise control from then on, securing maximum points and moving back up to second in the Premier League standings.

United, meanwhile, have now suffered four league defeats this term and pressure continues to mount on boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Foden, though, spoke highly of his City side after the game, insisting it was crucial they got back to winning ways after last weekend's loss to Crystal Palace and with the final international break of the year coming up next.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Foden said: "We had the game of our lives today - everything went right, a lot of possession and chances - we dominated from start to finish.

"We got in at half time and said we had to keep up the possession game and I thought we did that really well.

"(It gives us) massive confidence going into the international break - important to get the win before that - delighted."
