Bill Belichick is in awe of Atlanta's Kyle Pitts

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has described Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts as "a matchup nightmare" as he prepares his team to face the rookie next Sunday afternoon.

The Patriots are firmly in the playoff hunt after their blowout success over the Cleveland Browns made it four wins in a row for New England.

They are 10/11 -6.0 on the Point Spread going to Atlanta, who can be backed at 14/5 on the Money Line, and the contest will be on the Sports Live Streaming platform.

Rookie success

Pitts' play has taken off in recent weeks after his breakout game against the New York Jets in London last month.

The former Florida Gators star, who was taken fourth overall in April's draft by the Falcons, has racked up 40 receptions for 606 yards and a touchdown that puts him on pace to break rookie records for his position.

He'll block, he's good after the catch. He's a matchup nightmare.

Belichick is already happy to compare the 6ft 6in, 245lb Pitts to some of the biggest stars to have played tight end and says it was always his belief that he would be a star of the NFL.

"I thought last year in the draft, watching him, I think he's phenomenal," Belichick said of Pitts, who picked up 163 yard of receiving against the Miami Dolphins recently.

"He's big, he's fast, he's got great hands, adjusts to the ball and makes tough catches. Savvy route-runner, can get open, very hard to match up against. I was reading through some of the Atlanta comments and you hear them compare him to a cross between Tony Gonzalez and Julio Jones. I'd say that's about right, that's what it looks like. This guy is one of the superstars of the NFL already. I'm sure he'll break all the tight end rookie receiving records."

"He's got a great skill set, he's competitive," he added on Monday morning's edition of The Greg Hill Show on WEEI. "He'll block, he's good after the catch. He's a matchup nightmare."
