Beckham Jr could be set to make his Rams bow

The Los Angeles Rams have lost wide receiver Robert Woods to a season-ending ACL injury - potentially increasing the chances that new signing Odell Beckham Jr will be involved against San Francisco on Monday Night Football.

The Rams are 20/21 to win with a -3.5 handicap in the Point Spread while the 49ers can be backed at 8/5 to win in the Money Line.

We ended up getting a scan and unfortunately it revealed the result we all know.

Training injury

Woods sustained the torn ligament during Friday's practice session with NFL Network's Peter Schrager reporting that the knee injury occurred while the veteran wideout was running a jet sweep.

He reportedly felt something was amiss as he planted his foot and further testing confirmed the extent of his injury.

Rams coach Sean McVay revealed the bleak injury prognosis to reporters ahead of Rams practice on Saturday.

"You're sick for Robert [Woods]," McVay said. "Like we kind of mentioned yesterday, he's epitomised everything that has been right about this place.

"Such a great competitor, such a tough player, such a great football player and a great person. It's so unfortunate.

"He's just running something on air, puts his foot in the ground weird and he kind of came back and said he felt OK. We ended up getting a scan and unfortunately it revealed the result we all know."

New boy's chance

Beckham Jr was always going to be a big presence in the Rams offense down the stretch after his high-profile arrival earlier this week, but he could now see a significant amount of snaps against San Francisco.

"Guys will be asked to step up in his absence," added McVay of Woods, via nfl.com. "You don't ever replace a player like him, but it will certainly require a lot of guys to play better and really carry the torch because of everything that we miss without him."
