Brian Flores has played down rumours

Head coach Brian Flores insists quarterback Tua Tagovailoa hasn't been affected by rumours the Miami Dolphins are pursuing a trade for Houston Texans star Deshaun Watson during his preparation for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Dolphins are 21/20 on the Money Line to pick up only their second win of the season against the 4/5 Falcons at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium.

I don't really get into rumours, Tua is our quarterback.

Miami make tough call on Tua

Four starting quarterbacks hurt

Speculation over a deal to bring in Watson, requested a trade from the Texans this past off-season, has intensified in the wake of the Dolphins' loss to the previously winless Jacksonville Jaguars in London - and ahead of the approaching 2nd November trade deadline.

Miami have a slew of future draft picks that they could package together in a bid to acquire the veteran QB, which would almost certainly mean Tagovailoa had no future with the Fins.

Flores was blunt in his response to the latest round of questions regarding the second-year triggerman and his thinking on a potential mid-season move.

Flores cool on rumours

"I don't really get into rumours, Tua is our quarterback," Flores stated on Friday, via nfl.com. "I'm happy with our quarterback situation and I will leave it at that."

The coach says the former Alabama signal-caller has been able to tune out from the noise surrounding the Watson situation in the build-up to the Falcons game.

"I think his preparation, the way he practices and the way he performs has been good," added Flores.

"I thought he played very well last week. He was out for a couple games, a few games, and he came back and played very well last week. So, I think his psyche is in a good place."
